Most people love to spend time in kitchens as they are interested in cooking. It is one of the most difficult areas to handle if you are a working men or women. Taking care of kitchen’s hygiene is not an easy thing.
However, you might think that everything you do in your kitchen is perfect but that’s not the case every time. While you spend enough time in the kitchen, you’re bound to have few mishaps. They might make fun stories for later but can compromise your health and safety. Here are some common cooking mistakes that can be dangerous and you should avoid these habits to get something better.
Leftovers Have Time Limit
It is a habit for almost every other person, keeping the leftover food to be used some other day. This habit can lead you to hospital and should be avoided as it is dangerous. According to the food safety protocol, left over foods have shorter life than you might have thought of. In recent years people going diagnosed with food poisoning has increased and the reason behind it is that people consume leftover food which is not eatable at all. Vegetables can survive longer but meat only survives for a few days. You should not use the food that has been in you fridge for more than two days because there are clear chances of you getting along with diseases that can take you to hospital.
You are Spreading Germs through Washing Meat
The meat you buy contains germs. Washing it can get rid of some of the germs, but there are germs that can’t be removed with the washing. Washing your raw chicken or any other meat can actually spread potential bacteria in the meat juices to other foods and surface via water splatter. Instead of washing the meat and spreading germs, you should use science. Heating or boiling meat at certain temperature that is 165F will kill them and as you have been told before that there are germs that are so tightly attached that cannot be removed easily even after washing the meat more than once. If you have a habit of washing meat again and again, you should avoid it and instead boil it after washing once to kill the germs present on it.
Don’t Leave the Kitchen while you are Cooking
According to the national fire protection association, the number one cause of house fire and injuries is leaving the food on gas and forget about it. There have been cases that people left the rice on stove and went to do some other work which later results in house fire. You should take this matter seriously and avoid the habit if you are an addict. Doing more than one work simultaneously is not possible until you are an expert. Try to focus on either of them to avoid hazards that can ruin your life.
Olive Oil is not to be used Daily

Olive oil is good cooking oil but there should be a limit to its consumption. People have a habit of cooking with olive oil, but according to experts olive oil is not always the best option. It is advised not to use too much olive oil as extra-virgin olive oil has a relatively low smoke point, it can burn and start smoking if heated on high flame or for a longer period of time. It can again lead to cooking disasters and ruin the taste of your food. You should use canola oil instead when frying at high temperature.
Placing Cold Food in Hot Water Leads to Incidents
If you want to melt some frozen item, you should never try keeping it in hot water. The process is dangerous and applies physics behind it. If you are unaware that heat travels from a warm to cool medium, you should not try doing it. If you drop an ice cube into hot water, the water tries to get in so fast that it will splash everywhere which can cause serious burns.
If you are one of the followers on the above stated kitchen habit, avoid practicing it as it can be very harmful and can cause serious incidents like house fire and burns.
